I've been following your website since I got my car over 12 years ago. I never applied for membership because, "I'm not worthy". My 1981 Turbo Trans Am didn't start out as a Bandit. As you can see on the build sheet it was a black on black fully loaded TTA. When I bought it for $3500 in 1998 at a Kruse International Auction, it had already been painted blue and was in pretty good shape.
I have been on a 12 year quest to restore the car as my hobby (I'm a professional pianist here in Houston). I did it all myself except the final paint job. You know they say when all you have is lemons, make lemonade, so I decided to try and build the world's only "Blue Bandit". My car has everything a Bandit has except black exterior paint (I say exterior 'cause it was originally Starlight Black underneath). It's been a great experience getting involved with these cars and the people that love them. A restoration is really never finished, as I have come to find out, but just a few months ago I was rewarded for my efforts. I won First Place - Best in Class at the 2010 Houston Autorama.
