I work at a local utility company.
I graduated in
1977, the year of the first Bandit, and have always
wanted one. Finally after getting things paid off and money ahead I
started my three year search for a 1977 or a 1980 Trans Am SE, the 2
original movie Bandits. I had a set price in mind and was very
fussy about what I wanted, it had to be original. So many have been
modified or redone, but not correctly.
I found my car on Ebay, in Utica N.Y., and bought it from the
second owner. As far as I know the only things changed on it were
spark plugs and battery. I do know the first owner did have
the top half of the passenger door painted after side swiping his
garage and marking the paint. I bought the car in July of 2004 and
in August 2004 had the original tires changed and found some new
Uniroyal Tiger paws that look a lot like the factory tires, I did
keep the old tires. In July I took the car to it's first car show
in Saratoga, N.Y., The Saratoga Special Olympics Trans Am/Firebird
Show. Their the car took it's first trophy, Coach's Choice Award.
It also took a trophy in our local car club year end show,
Spectator's Choice award. If you get the Magazine High Performance
Pontiac, in the March 2005 edition there in an article about the
Saratoga show and me and the car were in the magazine. I have
original window sticker, first bill of sale, all other papers that
came with the car from the original dealer. All equipment in trunk
is original and unused.
