I am the very proud owner of this 1976 Pontiac Trans Am 50th Anniversary Limited Edition. I am the second owner of the car which I bought in 1979 with around 43,000 miles on it. Today the odometer shows nearly 73,000 original miles - but it's only been driven 400 miles in the last 12 years.
The car is a highly optioned "survivor" being nearly 100% original. The headliner fell down years ago and was replaced with non-stock material (I hope to correct this soon). Although I still have the original Delco AM/FM radio, I replaced it in the dash with a "rockin" AM/FM/Cassette radio and Jensen rear deck speakers in 1979. The working 8-track is still in the console. And, of course, the tires are not original. Although some parts have been replaced and touch-up performed through the years, that's about it. As a purest, I haven't repainted or redecaled the car - so it shows it age, but with very little rust.
As you can tell from the mileage comment above, I haven't driven the car much. It's been comfortably garaged. Perhaps it's my mid-life crisis, but my passion for the car, and Trans Am's in general, was reignited a couple years ago and I plan to take my first trip to the NATS next month.
